The 2018 season is our 51st year in the beautiful City of Upland with our tackle football program which has participants of ages 5-14. Upland Pop Warner is an association in the Mt. Baldy Conference and is one of the 15 Conferences in the WESCON Region. The WESCON region is one of 8 national regions in the United States, Hawaii and Guam. Pop Warner consist of approximately 325,000 youth players ranging from ages 5 to 16 years old. Pop Warner is the LARGEST youth football, cheer and dance program in the world. 


 

MEET OUR HIGHLANDERS 


This is home to the "Tiny Mite" of Upland Pop Warner Football. Head Coach for the 2018 season is Vacant. This is instructional tackle football played on an 100 yard field. No score is kept, and games are purely designed to allow the player to have fun and at the same time learn the game of football.
 
Age range for division is 5-6 (as of July, 31st)
Weight range at official certification weight is between 35 - 75 lbs.
 
There is no provision for "older but lighter" players in this division

MEET THE BANDITS

 

This is home to the "Mighty Mite" Upland Pop Warner Football. Head Coach for the 2018 season is Coach Crespo 
This remains instructional football designed to develop young football players. The field is 100 yards.

Age range for division is 2ND year 8 olds and ALL 9 year olds (as of July 31st)
Weight range at official certification weight is between 45-100 lbs.
There is no provision for “older lighter players in this division.

MEET OUR RAMS 


 This is home to "Junior Pee Wee" Upland Pop Warner Football.  Head Coach for the 2018 season is Coach Nate McHenry. This is the first stage of competitive football. At this level the teaching of basic fundamentals continues, but now more time is placed on performance. Playoffs and travel bowl games now become part of the program. Seasons typically run into the first part of December, with teams advancing as far as Nationals in Florida. 

Age range for division is 8-9-10 (as of July, 31st).
Weight range at official certification weight is between 60-115 lbs.

Older Lighter Players: Age is 11.
Weight range at official certification weight is between 60-95 lbs.

MEET OUR CHARGERS 


This is home to the "Pee Wee" Division of Upland Pop Warner Football. Head Coach for the 2018 season is Vacant.  At this level competitiveness becomes more apparent. As with the Junior Pee Wee division both playoffs and
travel bowl games are part of the program. Seasons typically run into the first part of December, with teams advancing as far as Nationals in Florida. 

Age range for division is 9-10-11 (as of July, 31st).
Weight range at official certification weight is between 75-130 lbs.
Older Lighter Players: Age is 12.
Weight range at official certification weight is between 75-110 lbs.

 MEET THE VIKINGS

This is home to the "Junior Varsity" (formally called "Junior Midget") Division of Upland Pop Warner Football. Head Coach for the 2018 season is Coach Derric Turner. At this level competitiveness is a natural part of the game. As with the Junior Pee Wee and Pee Wee Divisions both playoffs and travel bowl games are part of the program. Seasons typically run into the first part of December, with teams advancing as far as Nationals in Florida.
 
Age range for division is 10-11-12 (as of July, 31st).
Weight range at official certification weight is between 90-155 lbs.
Older Lighter Players: Age is 13.
Weight range at official certification weights between 90-135

This is home to the "Varsity" (formally called "Midget") Division of Upland Pop Warner Football is UNLIMITED. 
Head Coach for the 2018 season is Vacant. At this level competitiveness is a natural part of the game as we prepare our
players for High School football. As with the Junior Pee Wee; Pee Wee and Junior Midget Divisions both playoffs and travel bowl
games are part of the program.
Seasons typically run into the first part of December, with teams advancing as far as Nationals in Florida. 

Age range for division is 12-13-14 (as of July, 31st).
Weight range at official certification weight is a minimum of 105 lbs to no maximum weight

About Coach Turner: Derric Turner is a native of Woodford, VA. At the age of 6 he started to play Parks & Rec football and basketball. Throughout middle and high school, he continued to excel in football, basketball, and track. At Caroline High School he played PG/SG in basketball, andQB/RB/WR/DB in football.

After high school, Derric went on to attend and graduate from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University with a bachelor’s degree in business finance. During his undergrad years, he helped run summer basketball camps at the local YMCA. After graduating, he relocated to Florida and graduated from Kaplan University with a master’s degree in financial planning.

This year is the first time he will be a head coach. He has over three years of experience as an assistant coach for basketball and football organizations in NC, FL, and TX.

Derric is excited to be able to carry on the great tradition of Pop Warner for the Upland and surrounding communities. He plans to lead with proper morals and ethics, character, dignity, determination and sportsmanship.
